Chapter 5: When in Doubt...Dance it Out

This past week was....... well......... CRAZY and DIFFERENT.

Again, mother nature did not believe that school should be in session, as Tri-Valley School District cancelled school Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday because of terrible snow and ice conditions.

So with only two days of school, how was I supposed to accomplish my goals? How was I supposed to deliver engaging instruction when there was so much external excitement?

I guess the answer I came up with is also my takeaway for week 5.

Don't overthink it. When in doubt, dance it out.

As a student-teacher, there are times when I am so worried that I am not doing enough, that my instruction is not good enough, that I am not accomplishing enough. But I realize more and more that I am my own worse critic. I overthink and doubt myself all the time, when I should be concentrating on my victories, large or small.

But on these days and weeks where the schedule is crazy, the students are distracted, and it seems that I am just running in place, I simply have to do the best that I can. Even when I doubt or second-guess myself, I have to be confident and dance it out.

This means many different things to me. It means having fun, rolling with the punches, and learning to make the best of every situation. Having this mindset has helped me prepare and react to different situations when necessary.

So if you love Meredith and Cristina from Grey's Anatomy like I do, lets continue to dance it out together.
